Many small to medium-sized businesses have purchased software that is too complex for their needs. In addition, due to IT resource limitations, many companies have never truly utilized these application to see their return on investment.
Often, those applications are focused on only one key business mission or business area and are not adaptable to other key business tasks. For those other tasks, most businesses are left using centralized tools in the hands of key personnel. For project management the reporting tool becomes an Excel spreadsheet shared between team members.
